the virtual vent of a lateral thinker

London Please

This was an interesting little obstacle i stumbled across on my lunch hour – a discarded hitch-hiker’s sign displaying the words “London Please”. This brought back memories of my Whittington-esque ideals on the big smoke as an eighteen year old northern lad, slinging my mac into my knapsac and striding off to design school thinking i’d be trained in the art of having that one big idea that meant i’d never have to work again.

I’m totally unsure why this made such an impact on me, perhaps it was the formation of the letters which (apart from the rogue “S” ) would struggle to define themselves independently, or maybe its the way the author has obviously started to run out of space so has squashed the letters more towards the right hand side. I suppose the combination of the hand written note and the location in a dim underpass added to its poignancy.

I suppose they must have made it here, and i wish them luck in finding their fortune…
