Does GPS get rid of happy navigational mistakes?

I was meeting a friend at an East London bar the other day, and I already knew getting there would be a breeze, as I was armed with the bar’s postcode, and my new iPhone 3g.

“Yes!”, I thought, as I strode through unknown back streets following the purple route, and tracking my progress with a flashing blue dot… “This is great – I’ll never get lost again!”

It was this thought that made me realise – will it be any fun going somewhere if we know exactly how to get there? The amount of things and places i’ve discovered walking around cities, and loosely looking for a destination is amaxing – weird and wonderful bars, the best coffees, the weirdest bookshops, or interesting buildings…

When my iPhone told me i’d got to the bar, I was standing on a bridge over a canal, in a fairly residential area… and breathed a slight sigh or relief.
